Pollensa
is located in
the north of Mallorca, close to the "Tramuntana" mountains, 6 km
from the harbour town
"Port de Pollensa". The entire region is very
attractive due to the changes between mountains, valleys and of
course the sea. The region of Pollensa is famous for its beautiful
hiking trails. You can choose between short/easy and long/difficult
trails.
Pollensa
was founded by the romans. The "roman bridge" is one of the relicts
from this time. Most of the architecture is from the
16th. century.
There are many
historic buildings to be discovered. Each year in
august and september (for more than 30 years now) the famous
festival for classical music takes place (10-12 concerts of
international well-known orchesters and singers) under the patronage
of the spanish queen. The
gastronomy ot this area is very varied.
The town centre
offers many
bars and shopping facilities.
Port de
Pollensa is the place to take a sunbath or spend a day on the
beach.
The long and beautiful promenade invites you to take a walk along
the beach. The
bay of Pollensa and the
bay of Alcudia are the most
beautiful
sailing locations Mallorca has to offer.
One of the
most beautiful
golf courses ("Golf Pollensa") is only 2 km away.
The
monastery of
"Lluc" is 30 minutes by car from Pollensa. The
"Cap
Formentor" offers breathtaking views. You find all kinds of
night
entertainment in the city of Alcudia with its several bars,
restaurants and discotheques. The capital
"Palma de Mallorca" with
its famous cathedral the old part of town and the excellent shopping
and relaxing facilities is 40 minutes from Pollensa. The
airport is
60 km from Pollensa.
